Diving in Davao: Exploring the Beauty of God’s Underwater Creations

Hello Hachiko! It’s nice to see you again. 😀 #WhenInTokyo #Autumn
Yesterday’s road trip plus a new way of taking selfie brought to you by Nissan Terra’s Intelligent Around View Monitor 😉(swipe left). #RoadTrip #NissanTerra #Tagaytay
#Mandalao Tours is a non-riding elephant experience focused on education and animal welfare. In half a day, I’ve gained a lot of insights into elephant’s emotions and behaviors and only now I really appreciated the largest land animal on earth, deeper than a simple zoo experience growing up. MandaLao has around 10 elephants and most of them spent the majority of their lives working together in logging camps until they got rescued to be given a safe haven in this place. After crossing the river, I fed the mother and daughter elephant and joined them in a 2-hour jungle trek (they ate a lot of stuff along the way while roaming around!) MandaLao’s sponsorship and sustainability program as well as its local community partnership aim to rescue more and more elephants from logging operations and protect those still in the wild (from poaching activities). This experience is really inspiring and an eye-opener for me and definitely a must-do (other than seeing the Kuang Si Falls) when in Luang Prabang
Meet Mahn and Moen, mother and daughter elephant who were recently reunited after being apart for 9 YEARS!!! I had a chance to have a very intimate elephant experience (I joined a family of 3 from Austria and I was lucky enough to book the last slot). I fed these two with tons of bananas (they eat a lot!!!!) and then joined them in a 2.5 km trek for 2 hrs; in a jungle wherein they can roam freely, not forced to work or be stressed by riding tourists and be really happy! I promised myself not to ride an elephant ever again after trying only once in Cambodia 4 yrs. ago (then I found out in the news one fell and died several months after) because it’s really animal cruelty. @mandalao_elephants is the best example of responsible tourism, the 1st and only non-riding elephant camp in Luang Prabang and one of the few places in Asia where animals live in a loving and caring environment. They provide a sanctuary to rescued elephants (freed from logging and riding camps) and they promote sustainability by involving the local community in taking care of these lovely creatures. More posts about this experience soon and I still get emotional trying to recall this recent encounter - definitely the best and most memorable part of my Laos trip. #MandaLao

‘Coz I’m not getting any younger; last day of any trip is always reserved for R&R (kapagod ang trip na ‘to puro trekking haha). Thanks to @pullmanluangprabang for a very relaxing stay in this newly-opened 5-star resort. Shoutout to your shuttle driver Mr. Vong (you are lucky to have him) for being extremely nice! The ponds (with ducks and fishes swimming), paddy fields (with scare crows - I wish you’ll have some carabao or buffalo in there too haha), streams and of course the pools with misty mountain backdrop felt so luxurious for its price. Thanks to @accorplus for the complimentary upgrade as always. P.S. This is not a paid advertisement. 😜
